  • Things to know about Virtual Desktop Cloud?
Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) is a desktop virtualization technology wherein a desktop operating system, typically Microsoft Windows, runs and is managed in a data center. The virtual desktop image is delivered over a network to an endpoint device, which allows the user to interact with the operating system and its applications as if they were running locally. The endpoint may be a traditional PC, thin client device or a mobile device.

The concept of presenting virtualized applications and desktops to users falls under the umbrella of end-user computing (EUC). The term VDI was originally coined by VMware and has since become a de facto technology acronym. While Windows-based Virtual Desktop Cloud is the most common workload, Linux virtual desktops are also an option.

benefits of Microsoft 365 Business Premium
Here are some of the key benefits you and your customers will gain by switching to Business Premium as their productivity platform.

    1. Customers can access files anywhere
The Business Premium plan includes file storage for individual users in OneDrive and teams in SharePoint. In addition, users can access and share files from any device with a network connection

When your users keep everything online, it simplifies teamwork and makes them more productive. Nothing gets lost. Nothing gets left on an offline device back at the office.

  • How to move file server to SharePoint?
Migrating large volumes of documents from files shares to SharePoint Online has always been somewhat of a matzo ball. Most organizations just had two choices: allow users to drag and drop files manually or purchase a third-party migration tool. The first option worked OK for small/ad-hoc moves of data, but for serious volumes (tens/hundreds of thousands of files and folders), you had to acquire a third-party tool. While I used those tools numerous times to migrate my clients, it did not make financial sense for small businesses looking to do a one-time migration. Luckily, Microsoft has recently come up with a tool of its own, which is entirely free. In this post, I would like to document the process of how to migrate file shares to SharePoint Online using Microsoft SharePoint Migration Tool.

Step 1: Do your homework first!
Step 2: Download and install the Microsoft SharePoint Migration Tool
Step 3: Perform your first migration

  • How to Tell If the Office 365 E1 Plan Is Right for You?
Depending on what you’re looking for, the lightweight nature of Office 365 E1 might be good enough. You get access to web-based versions of the core office apps, which include:

The web-based apps aren’t as feature-rich as their desktop counterparts, and without wifi, they limit you to read-only access to Office files. In terms of the core apps, what you’re essentially getting with E1 is the free Office 365 plan known as Office for the Web.

So you can see why the Office 365 E1 plan is less than half of the cost E3, the next level up in Microsoft’s Office 365 Enterprise productivity suites.

But, if you’re not worried about advanced functions in Word or Excel, or needing constant internet access, then these tradeoffs aren’t terrible. After all, you do also get access to Microsoft’s core collaborative services:

That’s a good deal for less than $10 per user per month. You will get more robust versions of these products with E3 and E5 plans, but Office 365 E1 provides more than enough business-critical functions.
