    Hi All,

I am having a problem with my keymander software in general. This has been happening for a while now but when I am playing any game out of nowhere I lose all control for roughly 5 seconds and then it goes back to normal. Whatever the last key I pressed that key continuously goes for the five seconds. I really would like to fix this so any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Yeahhhhhh, This happened to me as well. I don't know how to fix it other than to unplug the controller USB and plug it back in right away, but that's only a temporary fix.

I suspect that It's a problem with the hardware, not the software; reinstalling the software or updating it doesn't fix the issue.

Changing the controller USB doesn't fix the issue either; same with changing the controller. Taking out the battery from the controller doesn't fix the issue.

The best course of action is to get a replacement KeyMander from what I can tell.

Yeah I know it sucks, and on the xbox whenever I hold down ESC on my keyboard which in fact im holding down the middle xbox button for example to accept a party or game invite, my head set makes a very loud static noise until I unplug the mini USB cable and plug it back in. Very very annoying, makes me lose many gunfights... :/

This only happens when the mouse and keyboard are connected to the PC and the PC is running the KeyMander software as a K/M pass-through, correct? I am trying to gather as much info as possible about this as our engineers have been trying to replicate the problem. It seems to me like there is some software conflict, but I need as much info as possible to give our engineering team.

Can you grab a screenshot of the background processes next time this happens? It will certainly make it easier to resolve.

This actually happens to me as well. Only thing is that it doesn't happen for 5 seconds, it continues until I unplug and plug back in the keymander to my PS4. When it happens, I'll either sprint in circles or it will freeze completely. I only play BO3 and IW.

It doesn't happen that often, at least for now, so it's not that big of a deal for me.

Can you send me what processes are running in the Task Manager when the system crashes?
It should look something like this:

It doesn't happen to me with the PC connected.

Your KeyMander loses connection to without a PC connected? I believe this may be a different issue since I believe all previous reports are with PC connected. Can you try a different micro USB cable to connect your controller?

I tried that but it still happens sometimes. It doesn't happen that often so it's not really something I'm concerned about, at least for now.

I found a similar issue and since I run the Xb1 controller without batteries, the controller would turn off with just the slightest movement. I discovered my XB1S controller had been dropped, and the micro-USB charging board was slightly out of alignment. To fix it I took apart the controller and realigned the front plastic shell with the connector board and reassembled it. That solved my intermittent connection issue. If you are running your controller without batteries, check the alignment of the micro-USB connector.

I have both issues mentioned in this thread. When the keyboard and mouse are running through my PC in Play mode, I will lose control for about 5-8 seconds with the last input (usually running forward) continuously sent. After that 5-8 seconds, the device returns to normal operation and functions completely as expected.
If I plug my mouse and keyboard into the Keymander device, I experience the same behavior and additionally hear a loud screeching noise played through my headset. This happens at the same interval of about 10 minutes or so but in this scenario, it won't resolve itself until I unplug the controller, turn the controller off and then replug in the controller.
I'm going to try re-pushing the firmware update since I read that this was recommended on another thread. If you don't hear back, assume I'm happily enjoying a fully functional Keymander and forgot to update my comment.

Edit (2 days later) 3/5/2018: I'm still encountering the issue after updating to the latest build from February, but I had another idea. It seems to happen every 10 minutes which would be in line with the auto-shut off feature applied to controllers that are not connected to the Xbox. Unfortunately, there is no way on the XB1 to turn this off so I'm going to start by purchasing a battery pack. Currently I'm using brand new AA batteries but I think there might still be a small disconnect happening. Per Derek's last comment, I'm going to try to be mindful of any bumps or movement around the controller while I wait for the battery packs. I'm also going to see if I can find another cable while I wait. I'll follow-up again with any additional information.

To address any questions about my setup, I'm using the Keymander in Play Mode on a Windows 10 PC with a Logitech G502 mouse and the Logitech G810 keyboard. My XB1 Controller is a standard controller with AA batteries plugged into the Keymander and the Keymander plugged into the XB1.

Is the keymander going directly to the Xbox ? Or is it going on any kind of hub at all?

Let me know how your other testing went!

Thanks for the reply Marco. The Keymander Game plug is going directly into the Xbox's single USB port. My order for the battery packs will be here on Friday so I'll let you know this weekend. If you can come up with anything in the meantime, I'm completely willing to give it a try!

I just played 4 games in a row without any of the intermittent freezing! I'm hoping that I fixed it but I'll follow-up if the behavior returns. The things I did since I last updated my post were:
    • Switched the power supply to use a 5V 2000mah output instead of one rated at 5V 1500mah
    • Reduced my polling rate of my mouse to 250 instead of 1000. I previously tried 500 and still experienced the freezing. YMMV
    • Slightly pinched the cable going to the controller between my desk and my XBox so it would remain stationary during play

I am experiencing the same issue as the above posts.
When playing games, the functionality stops working and the last input is sent for about 5 seconds or so.
I have my MnK plugged into my PC, windows 10, running playmode.
Keymander plugged into PC and Xbox.
And my controller, no batteries, plugged into the keymander.

Corsair K55 and Corsair M65 RGB Pro
    Standard Xbox1 controller
Astro A40s plugged into controller if that helps any.

The controller is brand new and I have a solid setup so I don't think any of the cords are coming unplugged or disconnecting. No vibrations, and I don't move the controller from where it sits.
When the functionality cuts out and sends the last input, I unplug the keymander from PC/Xbox to lose power and plug it back in. This resolves the issue for 5-10 mins until it happens again.

Also when losing functionality, I've gotten the mouse back to my desktop and wen trying to go back into play mode the software states something like "A profile is being uploaded please wait"
(Not sure on the wording, when I see it again I'll update)
But it seems like the software is trying to upload/send something to the keymander device, that I did not activate, when the functionality stops and sends the last input.

Does this seem to happen with a certain game?

Also when it disconnects does it say that the controller disconnected on the screen? Or does simulation/play mode just cancel?

It's possible there is an excessive current draw on the KeyMander, and if so there's two things to try and diagnose it:
    1. Put brand new batteries into your controller and see if you are still having the problem.
    If so,
    2. If you have an extra mini-USB to USB cable, use it to connect between the KeyMAnder Power port and an additional USB power supply such as a phone charger or even an open USB port on your PC. Let us know what you find out.

    Sorry for the delay.

@Mod Marco The only game I play with the keymander is Rainbow Six Siege.
It doesn't disconnect per say. Just all functionality cuts out except for the last input, mostly moving forward or sideways.

@Mod Derek I can try both options tomorrow after work and see if that changes anything.

    I haven't tested/played since posting.

, thanks for all of your help so far but I'm still experiencing the issue. It does appear that my issue has been mostly minimized (only about once per hour) by the configuration I mentioned in my last post (power supply, rechargeable batteries...)
Noting the other game mentioned here (Rainbow Six), it's possible that when a bunch of inputs are being sent via the keyboard to the device, it's causing the device to crash and then recover 5 seconds later.
I just realized that my polling rate is set to 500 again so I'm going to try changing that back.
Marco, do you have a recommended power supply or will the Cell phone charger with the specs I mentioned above suffice?
what is your polling rate on your mouse?
  • Moderator [Marco]

A cell phone charger will be more then enough power for the keymander. Let me know if this makes any changes.

Played for about 4 hours today and it happened 6 times. There was even one time where the device completely crashed (this happens at least once per week). If you try to start the KeyMander software again, it will say that a user is updating the device firmware. It's exhibits the same behavior but when it's a complete crash, it will not recover in 5 seconds. This behavior also happened in the "direct" mode when my keyboard and mouse were directly plugged into the KeyMander without the PC in the middle. If the PC isn't in the middle, the KeyMander does not recover after 5 seconds and it will play an extremely loud buzz in my headset until I unplug the KeyMander. Finally, I'm all out of ideas. Marco, do you have anything else for me to try?

    Hi Jake,
In talking to our engineering team it seems that may have been able to replicate this problem with a PC connected, and are testing a patch for it now. This may be related to a particular issue I'm working on now, so can you please see if your controller's Xbox button is working correctly when connected to your KeyMander, and also see if your macros are working (if you have any) when you press F11?
  • Jake G
    0
wow, thanks for the reply! I have macros mapped to my "p" and "l" keys and those do function when used. I use them as a single key alternate mapping to a controller button. I haven't tried using the controller's Xbox button and I won't be able to test until tomorrow but I'm almost positive it functions because I know most of the other buttons do (I usually turn towards a wall using the controller when the KeyMander freezes).

The hardest part for us to replicate reported problems is with the PC connected, since we don't have access to see what PC software is installed and running or what settings might be causing a conflict. It has taken us awhile to get to this point but I'm hopeful I'll that the patch being tested in our next firmware release will solve the problem.

I'll set up some time this weekend to reimage the pc I use since it sounds like that would be useful to either fix the problem or help diagnose the device. Would you like me to check any known software issues or send you an export of my profiles before I reimage? Also, thank you guys for all of the effort you've put in this far. I know it's a lot of work that we don't see up front here.
